everything you need to know
preparing for your shoot
its important to prepare to make sure it all goes smoothly
Preparing for your session will give your pet the best possible chance of having a relaxed, fun and positive experience. And for the humans, it means we produce awesome artwork where your pet looks like their true, happy self!
what to expect
At Floofs and Snoots, we take a pet-first approach.
We’re not about rushing things — no, no. We let your pet lead the way, take as many breaks as needed (butt scratches included, compliments too), and only start photographing when they’re feeling their absolute best. When they're ready to rock, we’re ready to roll. No rushing here.
before
book in your slot, choose the background colour you’d like to start with - think about your home and what colours would work on your walls! Not sure what to go for? Pop us a message and we can help you choose!
during
We’ll always give your pet a chance to warm up, and introducing them to the camera and flashes, step-by-step. Bold colours? Check. Fun props? You bet. We’ll make sure your pet’s personality shines through with every shot.
After
A couple of weeks later, we’ll get you back in the studio to review your gallery and pick your favourites. From there, we’ll turn those beautiful images into wall art that’ll make your pet look like the diva they were born to be.
reschedule
If your pet just isn’t vibing with the studio environment, no worries. We’re not here to force them into it. We’ll happily reschedule and take the shoot outside.

things to bring
Treats (the kind they would do anything for and lots of them!) – I have a supply at the studio but if your doggos are on a specific diet or has a sensitive tummy please arrive with supplies.
Any adorable accessories you might have (bow ties/bandanas…anything!) I’ve had a dog appear with a tin of Tennants and their humans football shirt and the photos turned out Awesome! So feel free to get creative, these personal touches can really add a lot to your photos! This is of course optional, there is no pressure to use props and accessories if you do not wish.
A tired pet - If it is a dog, you are taking along, please try and make sure they have been well exercised beforehand – it really helps!
Please bring minimal people along, to ensure your pet has a relaxed, stress-free experience. I recommend no more than two humans attend. The session really isn’t suited to young children, they can often bring high energy that can make the experience stressful for your pet.
Handy tip
If your dog is a cavapoo/cockapoo/poodle mix it’s a good idea to ensure the hair around their eyes and face is trimmed. This avoids their eye’s being covered up in the photos.
Background Colour Options
during
During your session
When you first arrive (as much as I will be dying to speak to them and attack them with cuddles) I will make very little fuss over your pet, this helps set a calm energy for the session ahead.
When we enter the studio space we can catch up over a tea or coffee whilst your pet/s explore their new surroundings. During this time, I will set off the flash casually to desensitise your pet to it. Once they seem at one in their surroundings, we will start capturing some awesome photos!
We will keep the session relaxed and stress-free for both humans and floofs, taking plenty of little breaks when needed.
We aim to take photos on two different coloured backdrops during the session, if you know what colour you’d like to start with in advance, let me know and I can have it set up and ready for your arrival.
if your pet isn’t vibing
Everyone has off days, even our floofy companions. If things don’t go as planned during our session and the studio environment isn’t working for them (it does happen and is part of working with animals, you cannot force it) We will rearrange for another day and do an outdoor location session in the beautiful scottish landscape.
after
next steps
At the end of your session, we will book you in to come back and view your complete gallery, it’s so exciting!! We usually set a viewing date for approximately one - two weeks after your session.
Your viewing session will be your opportunity to purchase and order your images if you wish, with this in mind please take into consideration when may be best for your viewing, if that means we wait and set a viewing date for shortly after payday then that is totally fine and please ensure all decision makers are present on the day.
In preparation for your viewing please take a wee look at our product guide, you can have a look here we will have a printed copy available on the day of your viewing.
Print orders can take up to six weeks during busy periods so please advise me if you require any prints/wall art by a certain date. *Images will only be made available once full payment is received

how to find the studio
Our studio is now based in our new purpose-built cabin located in our back garden in Bucksburn, Aberdeen near Forrit Brae (just 5 minutes from our old studio on Oldmeldrum Road).
There is ample on-street parking nearby. Please arrive and wait at the gate to the back garden where I will come and meet you, if early for your appointment please wait in your car until your appointment time.
Please avoid ringing the doorbell on our front door, you may set off the resident grumpy Jack Russell!
the exact location
I’ll share the exact location once you make your booking.
got questions?
-
Absolutely! Our sessions are up to two hours for a reason! I’ve worked with many anxious dogs and often time/patience works wonders! You are also welcome to book a pre-session visit to my studio to see how your dog reacts before booking in - just pop me a message!
-
We have a supply of snacks at the studio but if your dog has a tendency to be a wee bit picky we recommend bring their favourite high value treat.
Does your dog like to strut their stuff in different outfits? Bring as many accessories/props as you’d like!
If your dog has any favourite toys it’s never a bad idea to bring those either!
We have water bowls and a comfy bed they can use so there’s no need to bring those items.
-
If your dog is high energy, we highly recommend a vigorous play session before your shoot - this could really help them focus when in front of the camera and experiencing the studio for the first time.
If your dog is regularly groomed, keep this in mind for when you book your session.
Bit tip for the humans of doodle breeds - please make sure the hair around their eyes is nice and trimmed. Capturing the pups eye clearly is a big part of what makes our images AWESOME so we need to be able to see them clearly.
We use food motivation as a way to keep your pup interested during the session - for this reason we suggest maybe not feeding your dog as much before the shoot especially if they’re only slightly food motivated.
-
Commands really do help, ‘sit’ and ‘wait’ are the most desireable. However this is not essential especially if your dog is highly food orientated.
-
Not at all! We have a supply of puppy pads if needed. Accidents happen, we’re completely used to it here - no big deal at all!
-
Yes, there is plenty of on street car parking available along with the free puplic car park on Station Road, directly across from the studio.
-
Yes! At the moment I can photograph up to four dogs at a time, taken on a case by case basis as four chihuahuas is totally different to four St Bernards!
It costs £25 per added dog, to book a session for 3+ dogs please contact me directly.

The session fee does not include any digital files. You will have the opportunity to purchase digital files if you wish at your viewing appointment. You can view our product guide for prices below.
